Connect AI

How to connect your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to xBundle so it can build and manage bundles for you.

Using AI with xBundle

What Connect AI Does

Connect AI lets you use your own AI assistant, like Claude or ChatGPT, to build and manage bundles in xBundle by asking for them in plain language.

Instead of clicking through the bundle forms, you can say things like “create a fixed bundle from my two best-selling snowboards with 15% off” and your AI assistant does it for you.

How it works, in short:

  1. xBundle gives you a connection URL that’s unique to your store.
  2. You add that URL to your AI client as a connector (an “MCP server”).
  3. You approve the connection once, inside your Shopify admin.
  4. From then on, your AI assistant can read your store’s data and create bundles for you.

Important things to know

  • You bring your own AI. xBundle doesn’t include an AI subscription and doesn’t store any AI provider keys. You use (and pay for) your own AI client: Claude, ChatGPT, or any tool that supports connectors.
  • Everything the AI creates is a draft. New bundles are saved as Draft so you can review them in xBundle before shoppers ever see them. Nothing goes live unless you publish it, or you explicitly ask the AI to.
  • Access is limited to your store. A connection can only ever read and change data for the store that created it.

Connecting Your AI Assistant

Where to find it:

Go to Settings in the sidebar, then open the Connect AI tab.

1

Copy your connection URL

Just below the short introduction you’ll see Your connection URL. It looks like https://.../mcp/your-store-name and is unique to your store. Click Copy.

Add it to your AI client

In your AI client, open its Connectors (or MCP servers) settings. Add a new connection, paste the URL you copied, and save it.

The exact wording differs by client. Claude, ChatGPT, and MCP Inspector all call this something slightly different, but the URL is the same for all of them.

Approve the connection

Your browser opens a page in your Shopify admin asking “Allow this AI to connect to your store?”. It shows the web address your store’s data will be sent to, the name the client calls itself, and what it will be able to do.

  • Click Allow access to approve.
  • Click Deny if you didn’t start this. If that screen appears unexpectedly, always deny it.

Approve promptly: an Expires in timer on the page counts down, and the request expires after a short time for security. If it expires, start the connection again from your AI client.

You're connected

The client now appears under Connected AI clients on the same tab, and you can start asking it to work with your bundles.

What Your AI Assistant Can Do

Once connected, your AI assistant can do the following in xBundle:

What it can doDetails
Look at your storeRead your products, existing bundles, recent orders, bundle performance, store details and your checkout recommendation settings, so it can suggest products that actually go together
Create bundlesCreate all four bundle types (Fixed, Mix & Match, Multipack, and Frequently Bought Together), always as a Draft
Add a discountAttach a discount to a bundle (percentage, fixed amount, free shipping, or Buy X Get Y)
Set discount conditionsMake a discount conditional, for example “only for 3 to 8 items”, “cart over $150”, or a date window
Edit bundlesRename a draft bundle, change its products, and add, change or remove its discounts. A live (Active) bundle has to be unpublished first
Publish / unpublishMake a bundle live on your storefront, or take it back down. xBundle flags these as actions that need your confirmation, so AI clients that support confirmation prompts ask you first
Delete bundlesArchive a bundle (recoverable) or permanently delete it (not recoverable), also flagged for your confirmation. A live bundle has to be unpublished first
Change checkout recommendation settingsAdjust how many products are recommended at checkout, which products are excluded, and the checkout recommendation discounts

Examples of what to ask:

  • “What bundles do I already have?”
  • “Create a multipack bundle for my coffee beans with 3-pack and 5-pack tiers.”
  • “Build a Frequently Bought Together bundle around my best-selling jacket.”
  • “Add 20% off to the bundle you just created.”
  • “Publish the winter bundle.”

Safety by default

Bundles the AI creates are always saved as Draft. Review them in Bundles in xBundle, make any changes you want, and set them to Active when you’re happy, or ask the AI to publish once you’ve reviewed it. The AI cannot edit a bundle that is already live: it must unpublish it first, make the change, and publish it again, so nothing changes for shoppers without a deliberate step.

Managing Connected Clients

Seeing what’s connected:

The Connected AI clients section on the Connect AI tab lists every client you’ve approved, with a Connected badge and the date it was connected.

Disconnecting a client:

Click Disconnect next to any client. It immediately loses access to your store and will have to be approved again from scratch if you want to reconnect it.

When to disconnect:

  • You no longer use that AI client
  • You see a client you don’t recognize
  • You want to stop AI access to your store temporarily

Security notes

  • Every connection is approved by you, inside your own Shopify admin. A client can’t connect silently.
  • A connection only works for the store that approved it.
  • Disconnecting takes effect immediately.
  • If a consent screen ever appears when you didn’t start a connection, click Deny.
