Plans & Billing
How to manage your xBundle subscription, compare plans, handle bundle-sales overage and invoices, and understand plan status states.
Managing Your Subscription
Available Plans
xBundle offers four plans. Every plan includes all bundle types and all discount types. What changes is your limits: how many bundles can be Active at the same time, and how many bundle sales are included each month.
Viewing available plans:
Open Plans & billing
Go to Settings from the sidebar, then open the Plans & billing tab
Review the tab
The tab shows your usage for the current period (Usage this period), followed by a card for each plan. Your current plan is marked with a Current badge

| Beyond the included bundle sales | Hard limit: bundles are unpublished until the next period or an upgrade | $0.10 per extra sale, max $100/cycle | $0.08 per extra sale, max $200/cycle | No overage (unlimited) |
Connect AI and checkout recommendations are available on every plan, including Free. Only the limits above differ.
What counts as a bundle sale? Every bundle bought in an order counts as one bundle sale, and every product bought through the checkout recommendations widget counts as one too. An order containing two different bundles and one recommended product uses three of your included sales. Regular orders, with no bundle and no recommended product, never count. See Bundle-Sales Overage & Invoices below for the details.
How to choose the right plan:
- Just getting started? Start on the Free plan (every new store starts there automatically). You can always upgrade later.
- Growing store? Pick a plan with more Active-bundle slots and more included bundle sales per month.
- Selling a lot through bundles? Higher plans include more bundle sales before overage applies, and Enterprise has no limit at all.
What happens at the Active-bundle limit:
- You’ll see an Approaching bundle limit banner once you’re using 80% of your slots, and a Bundle limit reached banner at 100%
- At the limit, the Add bundle button is disabled and Set as active is refused with the message “You’ve reached your plan limit of N active bundles. Please upgrade your plan.”
- Your existing Active bundles keep selling; the limit only stops you activating more. Set a bundle to Draft or Archive it to free up a slot, or upgrade your plan.
Upgrading or Changing Your Plan
You can upgrade, downgrade, or change your plan at any time.
How to change your plan:
Open Plans & billing
Go to Settings → Plans & billing
Review the tab
The tab shows your current plan and all available options
Select a plan
On the plan you want, click Upgrade or Downgrade (your current plan’s button reads Current plan)
Confirm the change
For a paid plan, you’re taken to Shopify’s charge-approval screen. Approve the charge and you’re returned to xBundle. For the Free plan, confirm in the Downgrade to Free? dialog instead; there’s no charge to approve
What happens when you upgrade:
- Upgrades apply immediately, as soon as Shopify confirms your approval
- Your new limits take effect right away: you can set more bundles to Active, and you get more included bundle sales per month
- If the Free plan’s sales limit had unpublished your bundles, they’re automatically set back to Active when the upgrade goes through (bundles you archived in the meantime stay archived)
- Billing is handled by Shopify, so your plan charge appears on your Shopify invoice
What happens when you downgrade to a cheaper paid plan (for example Growth → Starter):
- You still approve the change on Shopify’s screen, but it takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You keep your current plan and limits until then
- If you then have more Active bundles than the new plan allows, they keep running, but you won’t be able to activate any more until you’re back within the limit
- Consider setting some bundles to Draft before the new cycle starts so you stay within the new limit
What happens when you downgrade to Free:
Downgrading to Free is how you stop paying for xBundle. There is no separate “cancel” button. Because the change is immediate and can affect your storefront, xBundle asks you to confirm in a Downgrade to Free? dialog (Downgrade to Free / Keep my plan):
- Your paid subscription is cancelled immediately. There is no refund or credit for the remaining days of the billing cycle
- The Free plan allows 5 active bundles and 20 bundle sales per month
- If your shop has already reached 20 bundle sales in the current period, all of your bundles are unpublished (set to Draft) straight away, until the next period starts or you upgrade again
- Otherwise your bundles keep working within the Free limits
Bundle-Sales Overage & Invoices
How billing works: xBundle uses Shopify’s native billing. Your subscription charge, and any usage charges, appear on your regular Shopify invoice. To view charges, go to your Shopify admin → Settings → Billing.
What is bundle-sales overage?
Every plan includes an allowance of bundle sales per month: each bundle bought in an order counts one unit, and each product bought through the checkout recommendations widget also counts one unit. An order containing two bundles and one recommended product uses three units. Free gifts added by a bundle are never counted.
On Starter and Growth, sales beyond the allowance are charged per unit on your Shopify invoice, up to a monthly cap:
| Plan | Included / month | Per extra sale | Monthly cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 20 | None (hard limit: bundles are unpublished) | None |
| Starter | 200 | $0.10 | $100 |
| Growth | 500 | $0.08 | $200 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited | None (no overage) | None |
- Regular (non-bundle, non-recommendation) orders never count toward the allowance.
- You approve the overage cap once, on the Shopify charge-approval screen, when you subscribe. You’ll never be charged more than the cap in a cycle; Shopify itself refuses any usage charge that would exceed it.
- On Starter and Growth, your bundles keep selling after the allowance is used up. You’ll see an Included bundle sales used up banner, and the Usage this period card on Settings → Plans & billing shows how many sales are over and the overage amount for the cycle.
- On Enterprise, bundle sales are unlimited. There is no overage and no usage charge.
The Free plan is a hard limit. There is no overage billing on Free. Instead:
- At 80% of the allowance you’ll see an Approaching monthly bundle-sales limit banner warning you what happens next
- Once your shop reaches 20 bundle sales in a period, xBundle unpublishes all of your Active bundles: they are set to Draft and removed from your storefront, and a Monthly bundle-sales limit reached banner appears with an Upgrade plan button
- While the limit is reached, bundles cannot be set back to Active. Trying to do so shows “Monthly bundle-sales limit reached (20/20). Bundles can’t be activated until you upgrade your plan or the next billing period starts.”
- The bundles xBundle deactivated are restored automatically when you upgrade. When the next period starts the limit resets and you can set them back to Active yourself; xBundle also restores them automatically the next time it counts a sale in the new period (with your bundles unpublished, that means a product bought through the checkout recommendations widget). Bundles you archived in the meantime stay archived.
Plan Status Explained
Your xBundle plan is normally Active. Here’s what each state means and how it affects your app.
Active
Everything is working normally. You have full access to everything included in your plan:
- Create and manage bundles, and set them Active (within your plan’s limits)
- Connect an AI assistant and let it build bundles
- View analytics and reports
- All storefront widgets are working
This includes the Free plan. Free is a normal, active plan, and it’s where every store starts. If you downgrade from a paid plan, or a paid subscription ends, your store simply returns to Free: there is no “cancelled” state and no cancellation banner, and your bundles keep working within the Free limits.
Frozen
Your subscription has been frozen by Shopify, usually because of an unpaid Shopify bill or a frozen store. Access is restricted:
- You cannot set bundles to Active, and the Add bundle button is disabled (existing Active bundles keep running for now)
- After 30 days, your Active bundles are automatically set to Draft
- Resolve the billing issue with Shopify to restore full access
When frozen, you’ll see a Subscription frozen banner (“Your N active bundles are still running, but you cannot activate new bundles. Reactivate your subscription to continue.”) with a Reactivate subscription button that takes you to Settings → Plans & billing.
No plan selected
Every store is placed on the Free plan automatically when xBundle is installed, so you should rarely see this. If no plan is recorded for your store, you’ll see a No plan selected banner (“You need to select a billing plan before you can create or manage bundles.”) with a Select a plan button, and the Add bundle button is disabled until a plan is chosen.
How to check your plan status:
Banners appear on the Home and Bundles pages, and on the bundle editor pages, whenever there’s something to act on, and every banner button takes you straight to Settings → Plans & billing. You can also see your current plan and usage any time on that tab, in the Usage this period card (Active bundles and Bundle sales (this period)).
Automatic bundle deactivation (frozen subscriptions)
If your subscription stays frozen for more than 30 days, xBundle automatically sets all your Active bundles to Draft. Your bundles stop appearing on your storefront, and their discounts stop applying, until you resolve the issue and manually set them back to Active.
This check runs automatically once a day. You don’t need to do anything. If your subscription is reactivated within 30 days, your bundles remain Active and unaffected.
